Colonial America – Tongue Twisters

November 30, 2010
Silly tongue twisters.

Two girls listening to silly tongue twisters.

Tongue Twisters

Using tongue twisters is a fun way to encourage reading, fluency and enunciating. The following are just some of colonial tongue twisters:

The skunk sat on a stump and thunk the stump stunk. But the stump thunk the skunk stunk.

A big black bug bit a big black ber and the big black bear bled blood.

Sheep shouldn’t sleep in a shack: sheep should sleep in a shed.

She’s so selfish she should sell shellfish shells but shells of shellfish seldom sell.

Two tutors who tooted a flute tried to tutor two tooters to toot. Said the two to the tutors,”Is       hard to toot or to tutor two tooters to toot?”

     Cross crossings cautiously.
