You can do this with you’re children/students with a fall walk around the neighborhood or just pick up some leaves at home to bring in. It is great to have children study the attributes of common items to help them distinguish and sort things they will discover in the future. Those that have difficulty learning the differences in coins benefit from activities like this.
- Look at all of the leaves.
- How are they similar and how are they different? Then sort them anyway they’d like.
- Have them write about how they chose to sort them.
- They can also draw pictures to help explain how you sorted them
