Using Kermit to Explain Leap Year to Young Children

February 24, 2012

Using Kermit the frog to explain Leap Year.

Frogs are a natural to explain “leaping” forward a day to children. You can incorporate frog games, snacks or coloring sheets to make the day stand out.

Playing leap frog with a group would be fun and you can extend it into a math activity.  Measure how far everyone can hop then it can be graphed and some students can figure out the average.  Great, simple fun!
