I’ve been selected to speak at the annual Community Sharing for Healthy Caring Conference on Saturday, November 15, 2014 and I couldn’t be more excited! My topic is about computer coding: “Playing with Code – Come Learn How to Write Computer Code and Have Fun Doing It!” I’ve had fun all summer learning more about coding and loving it! It’s a great challenge and it’s fun to see the things you can do with a few lines of code. Computer coding will become something everyone will need to understand the basic elements, so starting when children are young it will be like a second language and easy as pie for them. Using sites like:
They introduce anyone to block coding which makes it engaging and fun and they don’t think they are working. Try it out for yourself, the site is free and is a great starting point for anyone.
Khan Academy takes block coding to the next level. The tutorials are great and they have lessons step-by-step and it is free.
Code Academy does an excellent job at explaining the information and providing the concepts step-by-step. Although they provide the information in a clear manner, it isn’t not for the beginner. There are concepts that the skim over.
The following are a great kick off to coding for the i-Pad:
Hope to see some of you there!
